Puerto Rican Painter Artist Benjamin Mercado

Benjamin Mercado. Was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico. I have lived in the Chicago area for the last 45 years. My passion for art goes back to childhood. Fascinated by the Art Museum at an early age I have a passion for all genres. From music to sculptures in wood I hold an appreciation for all that man has created. Only the last 10 years I have been more focused. Although orthodox training has not been in my cards, pursuing images is just in my blood. My art is predominantly abstract pen and pencil. I see it as a study of shades and geometrical combinations. My Drawings are mostly expressions of exploring new angles and shapes that compliment or crash incorporating detail seldom seen in other art works. I am blessed by the culture from Puerto Rico and it gives me great pride.
